Explained from zero

Two pages competing for the same keyword?

If two of your own pages try to rank for the same search, Google has to guess which one to show, and often shows neither of them high up.

60-SECOND SELF-CHECKYOU CAN DO THIS NOW
?In Search Console, one search query shows clicks to two or more of your pages.
?The page Google shows for a query keeps changing from week to week.
?A blog post ranks for your main service keyword instead of your service page.

In plain words

What is going on

This is called keyword cannibalization. It happens when a blog post and a service page, or two similar blog posts, both cover the same topic. Google keeps switching between them, splits the links and clicks, and neither page builds enough strength.

It is common on sites that have published for a few years, and it is invisible unless you look at Search Console data per search query.

How to tell

Signs you have this problem

  • In Search Console, one search query shows clicks to two or more of your pages.
  • The page Google shows for a query keeps changing from week to week.
  • A blog post ranks for your main service keyword instead of your service page.
  • You have several posts on almost the same topic (for example "teeth whitening cost" and "how much is teeth whitening").

Why it matters

Why it costs you money

The page meant to convert (your service or product page) loses out to a page that doesn't sell.

Splitting links and clicks across two pages keeps both lower than one strong page would be.

Writing more content on the same topic makes the problem worse, not better.

In Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

Bilingual sites in the Gulf can also compete with themselves when the Arabic and English pages are not marked as translations of each other, or when both languages are mixed on one page.

What we do

Audit, Fix Queue, QA-checked fixes

The same team process for every client. Nothing is reported as fixed until our QA reviewer has checked it on your live site.

1

Free audit

Real tool runs on your live pages. No passwords needed.

2

Fix Queue

Up to 15 fixes, ranked P0 (urgent) to P3 (nice to have), each with evidence.

3

Your approval

Anything your customers will read is approved by you before it goes live.

4

Specialist fixes

Our SEO and AI-search specialists make the changes, or hand your developer the exact list.

5

QA-checked

A separate QA reviewer checks every fix on your live site before we call it done.

For this problem specifically

  • We pull query-level data and list every query where your pages compete, with clicks and positions for each page.
  • For each pair we recommend one action: merge, redirect, re-target, or leave alone if both pages genuinely serve different needs.
  • You get a Fix Queue (max 15 items, P0 to P3). Content changes customers will read need your approval first.
  • We make the approved changes, our QA reviewer checks them live, and we measure the same queries again.

No one can honestly guarantee rankings or AI placement. We guarantee clear evidence, before and after.

FAQ

Questions about this problem

Is cannibalization always bad?

No. If two pages answer different needs and both rank well, leave them. It is a problem when it holds your most important page back.

Do I need to delete pages?

Rarely. Usually the weaker page is merged into the stronger one and redirected, so nothing is lost.

What data do you need?

Read access to Google Search Console. We never need your password; you add us as a user.

How do you know a fix worked?

We record the positions and clicks for the affected queries before the change and compare the same queries afterwards.
